Not being able to lay down…

…really speeds up your knitting ;o)

I’ve had this cough for a week or so and just found out that it’s bronchitis. The newest development over the past week is I’ve pulled a muscle in my chest from all the coughing so laying down hurts like hell (so does breathing, putting on or taking off a shirt, washing my hair and pretty much anything that involves alot of upper body movement, in case you’re wondering…)(and now I can’t wait to see what kind of google hits that sentence brings). So, sitting up all the time leads to knitting…alot. I think I finished these socks in record time (though they are pretty small to begin with). The photo on the left is the cuff of the sock which is done in linen stitch. Unfortunately, I finished the socks so fast that the buttons I need for the cuffs (to hold them closed) haven’t arrived yet!

What happens when…

…you ask your man for a screwdriver? Because when I ask for one, I get <i>the look </i>and a reminder that there have been several purchased for me, including one with little flowers so it wouldn’t get ‘borrowed’ and there should be at least six in my toolbag. (yes ladies and gents, I have my own toolbag. I have my own power tools too - no not THAT kind, get your mind out of the gutter!) Then I get to explain that there wasn’t one in the toolbag and nine times out of ten a fight ensues that always ends in tears (and no, <span title="Roger Rabbit - my SO" class="serendipity_glossaryMarkup">RR</span> doesn’t appreciate it when I tell him to quit crying like a girl, hehehe).<p>There was a point to this…ohyeah…</p><p>The other night I asked for a screwdriver, the above happened and then I got asked what I needed the ‘damned thing’ for (yes, in those words.) <br /> </p><p>I needed it for my new wheel…upgrade. (NOT a new wheel, new parts. Had ya going there for a sec though, didn’t I) ;o) See, when I purchased the Ashford, it came with leather supports for the flyer which I found extremely frustrating. They soaked up all the oil within minutes and at one point there was a lovely screeching noise emitting from the thing. I had to set the wheel aside since there was no way I would be able to keep a continuous stream of oil going - which is the only way I’d be able to enjoy spinning on it.</p><p>Then came VT S&amp;W and I stumbled upon an Ashford that looked exactly. like. mine. Except…it had plastic supports! (angels sang. No lie.) I managed to be patient and wait for my turn to ask the owner where she got such lovely additions to her wheel and she directed me to Ellen’s 1/2 Pint Farm. I went there, Ellen was not there and the ladies there could not help me so they told me to email Ellen. Which I did. A week later I hadn’t heard anything from her so I went to the <a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/exit.php?url_id=2000&amp;entry_id=312" title="http://www.woolery.com/" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.woolery.com/’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;" target="_blank">Woolery</a>, found supports there that would fit and ordered them. Three days later I had them in my hot little hands with no way of prying the leather off of the maidens. </p><p>Enter RR with all his damned pesky questions.</p><p>Thankfully he can see pretty clearly when I’m frustrated and not in the mood to deal with said questions so he started to work on the leathers for me.</p><p><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06003.jpg"><img width="175" height="116" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06003.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06005.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06005.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06007.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06007.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06010.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06010.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06015.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06015.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p>After about 15 minutes of man vs. wheel (that one on the bottom left is him collapsing from sheer exhaustion - not that he’d admit to it), this is what I had:</p><p><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06024.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06024.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06023.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Photos/09-17-06023.serendipityThumb.jpg" alt="" /></a></p><p>How cool is that?!? This thing is dreamy now, if I get her going really fast and stop treadling she’ll go about 15 times before stopping. Yay!</p><p>In other news, over the weekend, when I wasn’t knitting my socks or Eris I was online - signing up for knitalongs all willy-nilly. First we have <a target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/exit.php?url_id=2008&amp;entry_id=312" title="http://littlempknits.blogspot.com/" onmouseover="window.status=’http://littlempknits.blogspot.com/’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;">Melissa’s</a></p><p> <a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/exit.php?url_id=2009&amp;entry_id=312" title="http://knitgrey.blogspot.com/" onmouseover="window.status=’http://knitgrey.blogspot.com/’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;"></a><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/exit.php?url_id=2009&amp;entry_id=312" title="http://knitgrey.blogspot.com/" onmouseover="window.status=’http://knitgrey.blogspot.com/’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;"><img width="100" height="84" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Buttons/greys.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></p><p /><p>Then we have <a target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/exit.php?url_id=2010&amp;entry_id=312" title="http://www.lollygirl.com/blog/" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.lollygirl.com/blog/’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;">Lolly’s</a></p><p><a href="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/exit.php?url_id=2011&amp;entry_id=312" title="http://www.lollygirl.com/sock06/" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.lollygirl.com/sock06/’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;"><img width="179" height="71" src="http://jessaluknits.yarncourtesans.com/uploads/Buttons/socktoberfest06.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a><br /> </p><p>(I’m a little partial to that button - I made it! …I finished something.
