Seven Sleeps…
…six by the time most of you read this.
That is the amount of time that needs to pass before I’m able to buy fiber again. This past week has been particularly hard because while updating my links I saw that you can buy batts off of the Grafton Fiber site. Now don’t hurt yourselves clicking over there and try to leave some for me, k?
There was also the little update at Knitterly Things that included a crapload of roving…and there’s still some left. How do I know this? Because I spent 20 minutes drooling on my keyboard before I came to my senses and closed the browser window.
I won’t even mention the weekly updates from Amy…or that evil helpful Karen reminding me of them (I remember a couple of emails from the just as evil helpful Cynthia too)…ohwait, I just did ;o)
So I did what any other person on a fiber diet would do if they had three pounds of dyeable roving and 126 packets of Kool-Aid. I made a mess of my kitchen.
Now, after my day of fun with flavors, if you were to visit my kitchen you would first be hit by the unmistakable scent of cherry, grape, strawberry, blue raspberry and pink lemonade. Next you would be blinded by the roving hanging in my window. It smells like a third grader threw up and looks like clown poop.
Lovely.
You probably want a visual. Don’t say I didn’t warn you…
On the plus side, I’ve known absolutely hideous roving to turn into breathtakingly beautiful yarn. Keep your fingers crossed, k?
First…
On the bobbin…
Off the bobbin…
In the skein…
Details:
- 4 oz Blue Faced Leicester roving from Spunky Eclectic in the Tulips colorway – the bits that are sticking out in the picture are from the targhee that I had spun to test this bobbin which I then completely forgot about until I was done plying…DOH. You hardly notice it unless you’re looking at a macro picture ;o)
- Split into 2 oz balls and spun on separate bobbins then plied onto a third. I tried to meet up the colors as best I could – I actually succeeded in some parts.
- 452 yards fingering weight.
- Started on Tuesday, March 13 finished on Sunday, March 18.
My first yarn from Amelia! (I decided…) It’s perfect for the beginning of Spring but I’m not sure what I’m going to make with it…I guess it goes into the basket ;o)
Hi…
…Beanie here. Momma is all distracted with her new whee (and neglecting my cookie distribution schedule – which is very upsetting) making yawns out of the fluffy stuff that I like to nap on. I don’t know why she needs to use a whee to make yawns, since yawns just…happen, at least they do for me, especially when it’s way past my bedtime.
Thanks for all the comments from the last post – I like hearing how cute I am. :o) Usually after Momma or Daddy tell me that I’m cute I get a cookie…just sayin’
For the record, I hate snow. Especially when it comes up over my head and I can’t walk through it or go potty without Daddy having to dig a path for me. I’d also like everyone to know that when we get alot of snow and Daddy hasn’t had a chance to make a path I have to try to walk through the stuff and IT’S COLD and Momma laughs…but then she feels bad and I get a cookie…and if Daddy doesn’t see her give me one, I get another cookie! (I like cookies…)
oh I gotta run…Momma heard me typing…it takes forever when you don’t have a thumb to push the space button…maybe if I look cute enough I’ll get a cookie and she won’t check the ‘puter…?
