Eye Candy and…
…well, that’s it. Just Eye Candy today:
My Peonies a day before a whopping big storm came through and knocked them all down. There was hail and everything – but at least I got a picture before the carnage…
Okay I lied. There’s more ;o)
In knitting news, I still hand-knit socks (in fact, the CSM is empty right now and waiting for me to develop enough patience to tackle the ribber again) and here are a couple that I have finished in the past few days:
I still need to finish their twins – but at least I’ve cast on for both of them so odds are good that they won’t be single socks ;o) The one on the Left is the Horcrux sock from the Six Sock Knitalong, the Right is the Central Air sock from the STR Club. Horcrux is knit with some Cherry Tree Hill yarn that I dyed myself with Kool-Aid to resemble the Gryffindor colors (my original yarn choice didn’t work out – the color repeats were too long and I was getting a half red-half yellow sock) and the STR yarn is PeaseBlossom. Oh and those are my new sock blockers from Scout, too. Aren’t they cool? ;o)
In other news, RR worked in NYC earlier this week and brought home dinner:
Long distance takeout ;o) Trust me, I’m paying for it – I gained three pounds
(
A drawback…
…to the CSM is:
…the kitchenering really piles up. ;o)
I did manage to finish one pair – these are my handspun made on the machine:
I’ll say it again in case you didn’t hear me the first time: These are made out of MY HANDSPUN and cranked ON A CSM. How FREAKING cool is that?!?!!? It took me two hours. TWO. HOURS. I can barely stand it. Oh and the fiber is the ‘Popsicle’ colorway from Amy in the plain old wool blend.
…now I just need to get the ribber to work and I’ll be cooking with gas ;o)
Thanks!
My thanks go out to everyone who entered my HP contest – I loved reading about how you started enjoying the books (or why you haven’t). I also noticed a few new names in the comments – hopefully they won’t fade back into lurkdom ;o)
I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that everyone is just as interested in hearing why I started reading the books…
I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before (it’s possible I did – I’m really tired and foggy right now) on the blog but Dobby lived with her worthless father until she was 11. Her dad isn’t a big reader – in fact, he hates to read and in the 20 years I’ve known him I have never seen him with a book. However, my side of the family is filled with avid readers so when she came to live with us in 2000 I hoped that Harry would help her to begin to enjoy reading. Unfortunately the reading didn’t take (old dog new tricks and all that) but I found a new series that I enjoyed reading and listening to very much ;o) At this time I own all the books in hardcover as well as CD form (which I have transformed into mp3 and playlists so I can listen to them on my Zen). As for a favorite, it’s hard to pick one out but if I absolutely had to it would be Half Blood Prince. Harry and crew are really coming into their own in this book and you get to find out a bit more about Tom Riddle which I find fascinating. However, the whole thing with Dumbledore is heartbreaking.
Okay enough about me – you guys are probably dying to know who won the contest…right? I entered the numbers that corresponded with the comments into my random number generator (in this case RR since I’m too tired and it’s way too late for me to try to find a website that does this – he hasn’t read the post yet so he’s still considered Switzerland in Bloglandia) and the number that popped out is…
*drumroll*
Congrats to Katy! (email me your address…k?)
The excitement is just too much for me…I’m going to bed ;o)
