Thanks!

My thanks go out to everyone who entered my HP contest – I loved reading about how you started enjoying the books (or why you haven’t). I also noticed a few new names in the comments – hopefully they won’t fade back into lurkdom ;o)

I’m going to go out on a limb here and assume that everyone is just as interested in hearing why I started reading the books…

I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before (it’s possible I did – I’m really tired and foggy right now) on the blog but Dobby lived with her worthless father until she was 11. Her dad isn’t a big reader – in fact, he hates to read and in the 20 years I’ve known him I have never seen him with a book. However, my side of the family is filled with avid readers so when she came to live with us in 2000 I hoped that Harry would help her to begin to enjoy reading. Unfortunately the reading didn’t take (old dog new tricks and all that) but I found a new series that I enjoyed reading and listening to very much ;o) At this time I own all the books in hardcover as well as CD form (which I have transformed into mp3 and playlists so I can listen to them on my Zen). As for a favorite, it’s hard to pick one out but if I absolutely had to it would be Half Blood Prince. Harry and crew are really coming into their own in this book and you get to find out a bit more about Tom Riddle which I find fascinating. However, the whole thing with Dumbledore is heartbreaking.

Okay enough about me – you guys are probably dying to know who won the contest…right? I entered the numbers that corresponded with the comments into my random number generator (in this case RR since I’m too tired and it’s way too late for me to try to find a website that does this – he hasn’t read the post yet so he’s still considered Switzerland in Bloglandia) and the number that popped out is…

*drumroll*

Katy of Knitterpated!

Congrats to Katy! (email me your address…k?)

The excitement is just too much for me…I’m going to bed ;o)
