JessaLu Knits (and Spins!)

…are reading this post, the first two hanks ‘o roving are mine, the rest are filler. Lent to me by fellow bloggers out of pity so I didn’t look like too much of a Rhinebeck loser ‘cuz I only bought two things.

*ahem*

The rest of the world? Well…you know that it’s really all mine - and soon you will know that I went a bit…overboard. There was a boatload of stuff in those ‘wee’ bags.

Here are the Saturday acquisitions:

Here we have Brooks Farm Primero purchased in the hopes that it would match a skein of Primero purchased two years ago at Rhinebeck. It doesn’t, but it’s close enough to mix; 4oz of BFL hand-dyed by someone (the dog ate my label); 4oz of Merino/Silk in ‘Cranberry Bog’; 4oz of Merino/Silk in…? (it’s in the car and it’s raining, I’m sorry but I’m not going out there to check right now, I’ll melt!); Sheepshed Merino/Tencel in three different colorways; Two balls ‘o Trekking for RR socks (see? I can buy for others!); Foxfire superwash/bamboo; Sock yarn from Autumn House Farms AND a Hatchtown Farm spindle made of cocobolo and something else that’s pretty… ;o)

Sunday I tripped and fell into the Brooks Farm booth, possibly passed out from wool fumes, and put my plastic into intensive care:

After coming to, I recovered and soldiered on to pick up a soap dispenser, mug and a skein of wool/mohair that I had been eyeing on Saturday but just couldn’t bring myself to purchase (you know, since I was being so mindful of my budget and all):

That’s it! Or at least, that’s all I’m owning up to at this time! ;o)

You know what’s funny about these big fiber festivals? The day after ends up feeling like the day after a big holiday. You’re exhausted and have lots of new toys to play with but you can’t help but want to cry since it’s all over (but the crying) and you can’t wait until it rolls around next year.

I had a great time this year - I spent most of the day on Saturday walking around with Kelly, Katy, Blog-Free Jean and Jean’s sister who’s name completely escapes me (sorry…). We all have a lot in common, including a wicked sense of humor, so there was much laughter - especially when Jean threatened to lick a skein of yarn that we both wanted but I had claimed first (it was very pretty yarn, and very lickable, trust me). ;o) Kelly and I even managed to make Jean speechless when she witnessed our speed and agility when we cleared off a vendor’s shelf in one fell swoop. What can I say? We saw the roving, loved it and grabbed it in the space of less than one second - it was pretty awesome if I do say so myself. *grin*

The blogger meetup was the chaotic group that it usually is - I got to meet Sandy and Norma this year (Sandy FINALLY received the Brian Regan DVD that I promised her about 6 months ago so I can now rest easy) and yes, Norma’s ass does look *that* good in those jeans. *evil grin*

I was able to talk to Deb and her Mom for a few minutes - and see the Birthday Bag that is magically invisible to Deb (nice stuff, Deb’s Mom!) I was also able to catch up to the usual suspects (Carole, Kathy, Beth, etc.) for a few minutes - and have a quick ‘hi!’ with Di, Cynthia and Cyn’s hubby (pictured at right - how do you like his T-Shirt? hehe) and lots of other people who I just can’t remember in the haze that was the meetup. Feel free to shout out in the comments to remind me - and I’m sorry again for my horrible memory!

Oh but I did see Jess and deliver her socks - I hope they fit!!!

I went back Sunday and walked around a little bit with Carole and blogless Sharon - I was really tired from Saturday, though so I wasn’t much company. I did get to see a few things that I didn’t get to see on Saturday because of the insanity and I did *finally* get to look at the Brooks Farm booth and Maryse’s beautiful cards (I didn’t buy any, though so I’m a terrible blogfriend. I’m hoping she’ll forgive me someday).

I also did a bit of shopping:

I’ll be stumbling around Rhinebeck on Saturday with my ‘I’m a Square!’ pin (from last year - I found it! It’s a minor miracle!) attached to some part of me that’s visible. However, I recently did a bit of a hair color change so I thought I’d be nice to all you players and post a picture of myself:

It’s not as red now but it’s still…not blond.

I also will not be wearing any kind of sweater - Rhinebeck or otherwise - since prior years’ have proven too warm for sweaters and therefore I decided to not kill myself trying to get CPH done in time. This means it will be cold and grey and perfect sweater weather on Saturday - you can thank me later. ;o)
