10 on Tuesday…

This week’s 10 on Tuesday is your top 10 favorite kids movies, here is my list:

  1. The Muppet Movie
  2. Hook
  3. Anne of Green Gables (we had a lot in common, Anne and I)
  4. The Rescuers (I had the read-along book on tape when I was a kid and wore it through ’til it broke – we didn’t have VHS back then and had to amuse ourselves with books (horrors! hehe))
  5. The Parent Trap (the original, thankyouverymuch!)
  6. That Darn Cat! (the original)
  7. School House Rock!  (*sings* I’m just a bill…)
  8. The Wizard of Oz
  9. Pippi Longstockings (I was horse-crazy as a child and loved the fact that she had a horse living in her house)
  10. The Dark Crystal (even though it skeered the bejeezus outta me when I was little, I grew to love it)
  11. Pete’s Dragon (yep I have 11)

I did my best to keep Disney out of this list because I had a child in 1989 who, from 1991 to 1997,  only wanted to watch The Little Mermaid (aka “ARIEL MOVIE”) and Sleeping Beauty (aka “DRAGON MOVIE”).  That’s it, only those two.  I *hate* Ariel and that little fricken dancing lobster and I honestly don’t care if Aurora wears pink or blue to the ball.  (okay not so much *hate* as *sick of*)  ;o)

So…what are your favorites?

  1. You were an orphan who hated to be called “Carrots?” Huh. I never knew!

And, I loved the Parent Trap … Hayley Mills was wonderful! “Let’s get together, yeah, yeah, yeah, Why don’t you and I combi-ine…”

  2. We watch Ariel alot too. At least my kids like to rotate movies, not so much on DVR recorded tv shows. They’ve always had a soft spot for Big Comfy Couch and can still watch that show for hours. i can’t stomach it any longer.

    Risas last blog post..Falling Down

  3. One bonus to having a boy child is that I wasn’t tortured by Belle and Ariel and all that princess crap. Instead I got Yu-Gi-Oh, Power Rangers and other boy-themed crap.
    Favorite kid movies:
    Herbie Love Bug (the original)
    Pee Wee’s Big Adventure
    A Christmas Story
Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (Johnny Depp version)
    I’m drawing a blank now.

  4. I loved the Rescuers! I think I still do a tiny bit. I still remember my mother taking me to see it at the mall when I was a tiny little thing. Think this explains why I still think Bob Newhart is fabulous? o.0

Is it just me or did something horrible to Disney movies in the 80’s? They went from classic stories to singing crabs and mass marketed crap. Not that I’m bitter or anything. :p

I loved (and still do) Mary Poppins and the Sound of Music. My kids know not to even think about taking them from my house. They loved Bambi so much the tape wore out!
