Yay!! I finished something!
Yarn! That I made!
Here are the before pictures of the skeins before they went into their bath:
and after a nice long hot soak and a good thwacking:
The blue yarn above is Merino fiber from Freckle Face Fibers in the colorway ‘Isle Caribe’. It is 302 yards, Navajo plied and DK weight.
The red is superwash merino from The Wool Peddler in the colorway ‘Enchanted’. It is 420 yards, two-ply and fingering weight.
See? I said I’d have pretty handspun for you today!
In other AWESOME news, one of my clients has some BIG NEWS that I’m allowed to share with you all! This client – actually they are more like friends for whom I do the books and buy props for the show – produces television shows and…and..ohthisissoexciting…WE’RE GOING TO BE ON THE TEEVEE!! Tonight, June 24th at 8pm on WIVM TV 52 and/or Time Warner Channel 365 and 367 and/or WIVN TV 29 Time Warner Channel 99 (these are Ohio/New Philly channels) Spad Johnson, Private Eye will be airing for the first time, ever! This is a long time in the making and if you are in the Ohio/New Philly area please, PLEASE watch and if you like it, let the station know, let everyone know! Spad is a private eye in 1950, the show is very much like the movie The Maltese Falcon or the original Dragnet series, and if you do get a chance to watch it, Spad’s desk is from my family’s farm and I helped pick out most of the props (other than bookkeeper, my official title is ‘propmaster’, how cool is that? hehe)
That’s all for now!

Ten on Tuesday…
…the one with all the…huh?
This week is supposed to be ’10 Favorite Sports Plays Ever’ which, frankly, does less than nothing for me since I do not watch sports. Unless it’s the Olympics or the Red Sox are in the playoffs and even then, there is no way I’d remember the play. SO I’m going to go in the wayback machine and pull out a ToT I didn’t do, 10 Celebrities you’re sick of (in no particular order, except #1, cuz I’m truly sick of her the most):
1. Rosie.
2. ’Speidi’ aka Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. Enough said.
3. Janice Dickinson. I happened to catch an episode of “I’m a Celebrity, get me out of here” and she was on. So…okay maybe she was ‘the’ supermodel back in the day but now? She’s loud, obnoxious and all the ‘work’ she’s had done to her face makes her scare small children. and puppies.
4. Dick Cheney. He may not be an official ‘celebrity’ but I’m sick of him and his sour grapes trying to undermine the current administration.
5. Brad Pitt. He stopped being sexy for me when he cheated on his wife. Which brings me to…
6. Angelina Jolie.
7. Rosie. Did I mention her?
8 and 9. Jon AND Kate. I don’t even watch the show and I can’t stand it anymore. Who CARES?!?! I *do* care that those kids are going through a bunch of crap that isn’t their fault HOWEVER I do wonder how much of it is staged. If she’s so spotlight-hungry she might be orchestrating a whole circus and we don’t even realize it…just sayin’ ;o)
10. Kelly Bensimon from the Real Housewives of NYC. Oh she’s awful, just awful. I just had to look up her last name on the website for this list and got hooked into reading all the comments directed at her regarding her behavior on the show and…apparently, I’m not alone. ;o)
So there’s my list – what celebrity are you sick of? ;o)

p.s. Happy Birthday, Mom!
I think I’m going to need an Ark.
…seriously?!?! This is getting ridiculous. It won’t stop raining. I’m pretty sure I have an indoor swimming pool in my basement (I don’t know because I’m afraid to actually check) and I was just stuck in a hotel with a few hundred car show people for four days of rain that was at times akin to biblical deluge. It was…interesting. ;o)
I spent most of Saturday sitting in the hotel lobby with Amelia (my Sonata, for those who are new to this here bliggity blog) freaking out the car people (since it was raining, they were all in the hotel lobby, most of them were staring at me). I answered lots of questions, which was cool, and became exhausted because I don’t do crowds well. RR was by my side for most of it and while he can answer some questions, he tends to let me answer the more technical ones (the, “are you sewing?” ones usually fall into my domain). ;o) I think Tina may be right and I need to make a sign that says, “I am making yarn, I will not knit you a sweater/sock/scarf and no, I do not know what I will knit with the yarn when I am done, but thanks for looking!” and hope that helps cut down on the stress of it all. Of course, I could just not spin in public and that would definitely cut down on the questions, hehe
Anywho, because of said rain I couldn’t get many car photos but I did get a sunset:
…on the one day it didn’t rain, Friday. And, a car belching fire:
…also taken on the one day it didn’t rain.
All the time I got to spend with the wheel this weekend added up to two skeins of handspun. They are waiting for their ‘before’ photos, after which they will get a nice hot bath and a thwacking which will make them all ready for their blog debut on Wednesday – just wait, they’re gorgeous! You’ll love ‘em!
