It’s that time again…

…time for thousands of Olympic athletes to descend upon Vancouver and battle it out for gold.

…and time for thousands of knitters’ families to abandon all hope of clean laundry, hot meals in a timely manner and vacuumed living room floors for 16 days.  Why?  Because we. are. knitting.

I am signed up for the WIP category in the Ravelympics, I’m hoping I will finish Twist.  So far I have a sleeve and 6 inches of back to show for my efforts – want to see?  I thought you might so I took pictures.  ;o)

The back of the sleeve cap  that I finished during the Opening Ceremonies (about 4″ of knitting):

The back of the sweater so far (6″):

both pieces so far:

See?  6 inches done.  I just wish the measuring tape wasn’t so darned happy about it.  I’d like to see more inches there…:

A close up of my stitch markers because I couldn’t resist – they’re so CUTE!  Plus, they make my sweater look very patriotic, don’t they?  ;o)

So, now you have my update so far – I’m pretty confident that I’ll either come very close to finishing or will finish prior to the flame going out – barring any unforseen tax preparation emergency or project bag necessity.  I participated in the Knitting Olympics the last time the Winter games were played in 2006 and managed to finish on the last day of the Olympics (a little late, but finished) – though that time I was knitting a sweater with a hood.  I’m smarter this time around.  I’m doing a collar.

If you are interested, you can find my posts regarding the last time I played Olympic games by clicking here.  I’ll try to have another update soon!  At the very least, my blog anniversary is coming up and it’s a big one so there will be a contest this week!

  1. Good luck with the finishing mission!

    I am knitting sev[en]circle, many of them actually (I hope), come check it out on my blog and if you hurry you can participate in my little game too (guessing goes on until Tuesday at midnight!)and maybe even win one of those :)

  2. I’m cheering knitters/spinners on for this one! So Yay! Go!!! Knit on!!!! Whooo hoooo!!!! {I wish I had known that as a participant I would not have had to vacuum for 16 days, but I think in my house, that would be kinda gross as it is has been 1 day and I already can’t stand it here anymore…}

  3. I’m cheering for you! I love the colors and pattern. I am also in the game to finish a wip, but I cannot show progress because the recipient will see. I cannot even get away with mentioning it here in the comments, as I know that a friend of the recipient reads your blog. I better get back to knitting!
