Happy New Year!

…and, this blog is not dead yet. It’s on life support, sure, but I do think about writing a post here and there and sometimes (like now), I actually write something. Let’s see if I hit ‘publish’ when I’m done ;)

2018 was crazy busy for me and SbJL and I continue to be amazed and grateful that so many people love the things I make as much as they do – 2019 is starting out with a new show added to my schedule (it’s in Lowell on February 2…something about a cheese market and the fourth floor, I’ll post more details as I get them ;) ) and also beginning with the need to be a little more organized so I’ve been purging clothing and kitchen gadgets like a crazed woman. Both my daughter and the local donation spots are beginning to look nervous whenever I contact them lately, since I’ve been getting rid of so much stuff lol

think that has to be it for now, this may not even publish because I keep getting a red banner with “UPDATING FAILED” across the top of my screen which is super helpful to the writing process ha ha

P.S. Finally got it to publish after shutting off all plugins – yay WP 5.0?

Summer Nights

Summer nights…the air is slightly cooler than your skin and feels like velvet. The night sky is huge and dark and full of glittering diamond stars that almost look like they are close enough to touch if you reach out and the fields and the edges of the woods are full of winking fireflies and chirping crickets. Right now is my second favorite time of year (Fall is my first favorite). If it’s not too humid, the days are nice and warm but not too hot and the nights are slightly cooler – and if you are lucky to live in the country (like I am), nature gives you a nightly light show in the form of fireflies.

Last night, RR (aka Boothbait) and I went to our local roadside burger place for dinner and on the way home, we stopped by a few hay fields to check out the fireflies. It’s still a little early, but there were a few out there winking away, doing their firefly thing. It’s one of our favorite things to do and that’s why every summer, I carry this firefly print in the shop:

Photo is linked to shop listing :)

I remember catching fireflies with my grandmother (the one who taught me to sew), and wondering at how they did that magic light show. We always let them go after a bit, so no lightning bugs were harmed ;) I’m so happy that my back yard is full of them every year so we can sit on the porch and watch them – and I think of grandma Beth, helping me discover the wonders of playing outside. :)

Yes, I’ve posted again – I really am going to try to post once in a while since I do like to share my thoughts on projects and life in general (and shop updates, etc.) in more than 140 characters ;) I figure I may as well give the hackers something to want to steal ;)

Well, that was…interesting

My blog is definitely in the ‘what the hell is she doing, it’s dead but she doesn’t want to admit it’s dead’ stage, so I don’t really get a whole lot of emails with “jessalu knits” involved.

Except for Saturday. Saturday was an email shitstorm.

The first one was from my hosting company at about 2am – “we’ve had to shut you down.” I won’t quote the rest, there isn’t room enough in the whole internet.

What happened? This:

In less than an hour. To give you some perspective, my SbJL blog has seen 261 malicious login attempts in 8 years (see how dead my blog is? the high point in June is 6 hits. 6.) I’m not sure what someone wanted with my somewhat dead knitting blog, but now I’ve learned new things and have security plugins that will hopefully keep this from happening again. Thanks for eating up my Saturday, unknown bot.

In happier news, I’ve been sewing a few things ;o) The summer limited editions will be going up sometime this week – possibly even today, if I can get my act together!

I’ll announce the listings on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter, so be sure to follow me there for shop upates!
