…there is something to be said about knitting socks on size 5 needles with worsted weight yarn – even if it is only, “Dang! This stuff knits up fast!” ;o)
I cast on for these socks on Wednesday and finished them Saturday:
Yesterday kicked off Socktoberfest – I’ve never participated in this knitalong before, last year at this time I wasn’t knitting socks yet…no wait, I was. Okay I have no idea why I didn’t sign up last year but I did this year. I picked two socks to be my Socktoberfest sockage, the first being Eunny’s Bayerische socks:
…and the second being Falling Leaves:
I cast on for Bayerische this morning and spent most of the day telling RR to quit talking to me, I didn’t care WHO was winning the race! (he actually lied to me at one point and told me Michael W. was in the lead, just to see if I’d look up. I did. Sneaky bastard.) These socks are just a tad complicated to start out, but they get easier after the 2nd repeat (at least, that’s what Eunny says on her site and I’m inclined to believe her because if I don’t I’m going to wind up curled in a ball on the floor surrounded by a tattered skein of periwinkle Lorna’s Laces threatening to stab my own eyes out with my size 0 circs. And whimpering, don’t forget the whimpering. Trust me, it won’t be pretty.)
I haven’t cast on for Falling Leaves yet…
if I live through Bayerische those are up next ;o) I lied – Falling Leaves will be my Grey’s knitting – and there’s even a little bit of grey mixed in there with the autumnal colors, bonus!
Oh and the bronchitis is WAY better – I’m on my 2nd round of antibiotics but the cough is finally starting to leave the building. Thank God. Thanks again for all your well-wishes, they helped alot! :o)
I received the buttons for my Rock n Weave socks from the Button Drawer yesterday:
I think they might be a bit too close together and am considering ripping and re-doing the buttonholes. What’s keeping me from doing that? The picot edge bind off. That thing was a bitch.
I found the Button Drawer through Deb – it’s a great resource for those like me who have a crappy button selection in their area. Shipping is very reasonable and they say there is no order too small ;o)
That’s all I have to report today – in case you missed my last post, I’ve been playing Civ 4 for 22 hours a day for the past week (you also missed an Eris update but oh well…) ;o) The Civ playing has kind of cut into the knitting time, but I do have another pair of socks in the works!
*One of many great lines from Shrek ;o)
<p>…I think I lost count.  But I’m not complaining!  A girl can’t have too much hand-knit sockage ;o)</p><p>Anywho, I finished the Wyverns!  Here they are:</p><p align="center"><img width="480" height="360" src="uploads/Photos/07-29-2006-021.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /><br /></p><p align="center"><img width="360" height="211" src="uploads/Buttons/Project-Stats-wyvern.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /><br /></p><p>They are extremely hard to photograph and it’s hard to see the pattern but trust me, they look great in person ;o)</p><p>I have another photo to share:</p><p align="center"><img width="449" height="331" src="uploads/Photos/07-27-2006005.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /><br /></p><div align="center">…just seen my stash in its entirety or just got back from a driving session with <span title="My daughter (The Teen)" class="serendipity_glossaryMarkup">Dobby</span>…you decide ;o)<br /></div><p> </p>
