Breaking out the wheel…
<p>Yesterday I decided to have a little self-control. Yes, it hurt, but it was necessary…</p><p>You see, I bought all that lovely fiber on Saturday that I just can’t wait to start spinning (and I have started with the cashmere/silk and YES I can spin it. Too difficult – bah.)…but I already have a pile of fiber in the corner of my living room that is just as beautiful. SO I decided to grab some of that and spin it BEFORE I start the BFL from Foxfire. </p><p>This is roving I bought on Ebay from I-can’t-remember-where in the colorway ‘Roses’ (okay I made that up, I can’t remember what colorway they named it but it had something to do with roses…):</p><p><a href="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/10-24-06003.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" src="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/10-24-06003.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></p><p>…and when I wasn’t spinning, I was knitting. I started a pair of socks from my handspun last week so I’d have something nice and vanilla to knit while at Rhinebeck (they never saw the light of day but hey, I was prepared for any eventuality):</p><p><a href="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/10-24-06008.jpg"><img width="175" height="131" src="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/10-24-06008.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></p><p>This is the Spunky Eclectic that I got in my <a href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url=aHR0cDovL2plc3NhbHVrbml0cy55YXJuY291cnRlc2Fucy5jb20vaW5kZXgucGhwPy9hcmNoaXZlcy8yNjQtT2YtTWljZS1hbmQtTWVuLi4uLmh0bWw=&entry_id=333" title="http://jessaluknits.com/index.php?/archives/264-Of-Mice-and-Men….html" onmouseover="window.status=’http://jessaluknits.com/index.php?/archives/264-Of-Mice-and-Men….html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;" target="_blank">Yarn Aboard package</a> – it’s knitting up nicely and I’m very happy with the color changes ;o) (happier than with the first hank-o-handspun which I still think <a href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url=aHR0cDovL2plc3NhbHVrbml0cy55YXJuY291cnRlc2Fucy5jb20vaW5kZXgucGhwPy9hcmNoaXZlcy8yMzEtVHdvLXRoaW5ncy4uLi5odG1s&entry_id=333" title="http://jessaluknits.com/index.php?/archives/231-Two-things….html" onmouseover="window.status=’http://jessaluknits.com/index.php?/archives/231-Two-things….html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;" target="_blank">looks like ass</a> – even more so when knit up)</p><p>I’ve been slowly working on the Bayerische socks, but they’re not exactly car knitting so they’re moving along veeeerrrryyyy sllllloooowwwlllyyy and I doubt they’ll be done by the end of Socktoberfest. In my defense, I took 11 days to knit a sweater to wear to Rhinebeck…that kind of cut into my sock knitting time ;o) Oh and the Grey’s Anatomy knitting? I decided that I don’t like <a href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url=aHR0cDovL3d3dy5rbml0dHkuY29tL0lTU1VFZmFsbDA1L1BBVFRmYWxsaW5nbGVhdmVzLmh0bWw=&entry_id=333" title="http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTfallingleaves.html" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEfall05/PATTfallingleaves.html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;" target="_blank">Falling Leaves</a> so much and have switched to <a href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url=aHR0cDovL2F1dG9zY29waWEuY29tL2FtZWxpYS9hcmNoaXZlcy8yMDA1LzA4L2JlY2F1c2VfeW91YXJlXzEuaHRtbA==&entry_id=333" title="http://autoscopia.com/amelia/archives/2005/08/because_youare_1.html" onmouseover="window.status=’http://autoscopia.com/amelia/archives/2005/08/because_youare_1.html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;" target="_blank">Elfine</a> – which is also a leaf pattern. At least, I <i>will</i> switch as soon as I take the time to rip out the 2" of Falling Leaves I already did…*sigh*</p>

This weekend, I learned…
…there is something to be said about knitting socks on size 5 needles with worsted weight yarn – even if it is only, “Dang! This stuff knits up fast!” ;o)
I cast on for these socks on Wednesday and finished them Saturday:

Yesterday kicked off Socktoberfest – I’ve never participated in this knitalong before, last year at this time I wasn’t knitting socks yet…no wait, I was. Okay I have no idea why I didn’t sign up last year but I did this year. I picked two socks to be my Socktoberfest sockage, the first being Eunny’s Bayerische socks:
…and the second being Falling Leaves:
I cast on for Bayerische this morning and spent most of the day telling RR to quit talking to me, I didn’t care WHO was winning the race! (he actually lied to me at one point and told me Michael W. was in the lead, just to see if I’d look up. I did. Sneaky bastard.) These socks are just a tad complicated to start out, but they get easier after the 2nd repeat (at least, that’s what Eunny says on her site and I’m inclined to believe her because if I don’t I’m going to wind up curled in a ball on the floor surrounded by a tattered skein of periwinkle Lorna’s Laces threatening to stab my own eyes out with my size 0 circs. And whimpering, don’t forget the whimpering. Trust me, it won’t be pretty.)
I haven’t cast on for Falling Leaves yet…if I live through Bayerische those are up next ;o) I lied – Falling Leaves will be my Grey’s knitting – and there’s even a little bit of grey mixed in there with the autumnal colors, bonus!
Oh and the bronchitis is WAY better – I’m on my 2nd round of antibiotics but the cough is finally starting to leave the building. Thank God. Thanks again for all your well-wishes, they helped alot! :o)
