The Devil Made Me Do It

…Mabelle.

My CPW

Mabelle (pronounced May-belle) is a Canadian Production Wheel.

Supports

She is a light brunette with intricate turnings who enjoys baths with Murphys, tight twist in her singles, low speed treadling and long evenings by the fire.

A single's eye view...

She made her home in Canandaigua, NY but when her former partner passed on, she decided to become a Massachusetts resident.  (yes, she also leans to the left and is just as appalled as her new partner at the R following the name of the newly elected Senator from our fair Commonwealth)

Treadle

Currently she is making friends with her new sisters, Amelia and Emma, and is attempting to charm them into not being jealous of all the attention she’s been getting lately.

Mother of All

She has undergone some cosmetic surgery over the years however, she is looking forward to a full-body scrub in the Spring.

Flyer Assembly with my First Bobbin on the CPW

A high-fiber diet is a favorite, she tries to get about 6 ounces per day.

CPW and Symphony

Amelia is trying her best to not look intimidated.  ;o)

For those wondering where I came up with the name Mabelle – my Maternal Grandmother’s name on paper was Mabel.  However, her mother pronounced it in the French-Canadian style “May-Belle” and when searching for French names for my new wheel I came across the name Mabelle which, to me, fit perfectly.

Now, to find some sunshine so I can take pictures of the yarn she and I have made together…

…apparently Christine thinks I’m a bit…weird. Or, she has an inkling and wants proof since she tagged me for the ‘6 Weird Things’ meme. ;o)

Okay, the rules:

“Each player of this game starts with the ‘6 weird things
about you.’ People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6
weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need
to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to
leave a comment that says ‘you are tagged’ in their comments and tell
them to read your blog.”

First things first – there will be no taggage. Not by me, anyway. Not during the last week of knitting season the Xmess…mess. There are those who did not do as I did and are knitting their little hearts out right now. I don’t want to piss off any knitters – what with them having pointy things and all ;o)

(btw, I asked RR for help with this – and received a smirk and a “there’s tons, but I can’t think of anything specific right now” har. har. isn’t he just so fricken hilarious.)

1. I’ve mentioned this before – I’m afraid of tall ceilings. Anything over three stories and I’m a puddle of jell-o and can’t move an inch. RR thought he’d be all nice when we first started dating and he brought me to Grand Central Station…

2. I have to clean my kitchen (mostly the stovetop) before I can start cooking. I’ll clean it again when I’m done, too.

3. If you are introduced to me, I will have the hardest time in the world remembering your name. However, I will remember your face for the rest of my life. I just won’t be able to get your attention across a crowded room ‘cuz your name will escape me…

4. So many people have this issue that it can’t really be considered ‘weird’ anymore – I don’t like it when my food touches, unless I *make* it touch. Like in shepherd’s pie, for instance. Or lasagne. (mmmm…lasagne…)

5. I am a very superstitious soul – I knock on wood regularly, I won’t ever, EVER put shoes on a table or a countertop, I won’t throw my sweepings out the door, God help me if a black cat circles me and there’s no way in hell you’d get me to walk under a ladder. Oh and I hold my breath when I drive by cemetaries.

6. I think I’ve mentioned this before, too – I’m afraid of crowds. If I am in the middle of a bunch of people I don’t know I get all wigged out. However, if there are people that I know in the crowd, I’m okay. It’s like, if I’m standing next to a friend who I know would clear a path for me if I start to freak, I feel safe.

So…let us revisit #3. Yesterday, I’m watching The Tick episodes that I told ya’ll about and when I start watching Episode 6 I have an epiphany. There, in a red costume with a big ‘ole C on his chest is….JONATHAN FROM FRICKEN SURVIVOR! (he has his own Wikipedia page! AND IMDB page! No, I don’t have anything better to do…why do you ask?) I almost fell over. I KNEW he looked familiar! dammit! RR didn’t believe me ’til he got home and I proved it (oh ye of little faith, eh? He should know better.) Swear to God – Jonathan whats-his-rat-fink was The Champion on The Tick. If you are a Survivor fan (or a Tick fan, or hell, if you’re bored), go watch. It’s fricken hilarious ;o) I am definitely filing this under ‘Things I Wish I Had Found Last Week’ *grin*

I would have loved to have posted this earlier – however, when it rains as hard as it did here today, the satellite internet connection no work-y. Very frustrating.

Anyway, had I posted earlier, I wouldn’t have had this lovely photo to share with you:

Guess who got the rest of her braces put on today…aaaaand guess who’s a lil cranky about it…

Isn’t she lovely? hehehe

Oh, and the knitting:

I’m most of the way through the 3rd repeat (of 5) of chart 3 (of 4) of Ene’s Scarf – almost there!

One more thing – for fans of The OfficeMichael and Dwight are bringing sexy back and it’s freaking. hilarious. ;o)

Hi – Beanie here :o) I’d like to thank everyone for their Birthday wishes and let you all know that I only woke Daddy up four times (he was pretty cranky after the second time but knew that if he didn’t let me out, we would ALL regret it). I’d also like to move in with Marina (though Momma says she’d miss me and the steak will probably kill me. I don’t care – it’s STEAK and I haven’t had red meat since…well, since last Christmas!) – and Bella? You’re pretty cute yourself! Layla – I’d love to hang out! Sitting on balls of yarn is my 2nd favorite thing to do – my first is getting tangled up in the string and dragging it across the room while Momma yells and Daddy tries to catch me ;o)

<p>…and I had my memory jogged…at least partially ;o) (Thanks C ;o) )</p><p>So without further ado, a chronological photo array for your enjoyment…</p><p><table cellspacing="1" cellpadding="1" border="0" style="width: 612px; height: 510px;"><tbody><tr><td style="width: 50%;"><a onclick="F1 = window.open(‘/uploads/Photos/04-29-06022.jpg’,’Zoom’,’height=448,width=655,top=167.5,left=320,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes’); return false;" href="uploads/Photos/04-29-06022.jpg"><img width="175" height="118" src="uploads/Photos/04-29-06022.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></td><td style="width: 50%;"><a onclick="F1 = window.open(‘/uploads/Photos/04-29-06003.jpg’,’Zoom’,’height=495,width=582,top=144,left=356.5,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes’); return false;" href="uploads/Photos/04-29-06003.jpg"><img width="175" height="148" src="uploads/Photos/04-29-06003.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></td><td style="width: 50%;"><a onclick="F1 = window.open(‘/uploads/Photos/04-29-06004.jpg’,’Zoom’,’height=495,width=612,top=144,left=341.5,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes’); return false;" href="uploads/Photos/04-29-06004.jpg"><img width="175" height="141" src="uploads/Photos/04-29-06004.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></td><td style="width: 50%;"></td><td style="width: 50%;"></td><td valign="top"></td><td valign="top"></td><td style="width: 50%;"></td><td style="width: 50%;"></td><td style="width: 50%;"></td></tr><tr><td style="width: 50%;"><p><a onclick="F1 = window.open(‘/uploads/Photos/04-29-06018.jpg’,’Zoom’,’height=495,width=513,top=144,left=391,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes’); return false;" href="uploads/Photos/04-29-06018.jpg"><img width="175" height="169" src="uploads/Photos/04-29-06018.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a></p>

I had a great time (as stated in my previous post) and while I’m not going to make it to MD I’m going to try my best to make it to NH (even though it is the day after my final dentist visit…and its three hours away…) because these bloggers truly make a fellow knitblogger feel welcomed into the fold ;o) Thanks guys!</p><p>I’ll try to do yarn photos tomorrow, I bought some sock yarn (ooo surprise there) at the show and my KnitPicks order came so I dabbled a bit with the Wilton colors I had left over from my cake decorating days and dyed three skeins. Not sure if I like them, but they’re not white anymore. I think I’ll pick up some Kool Aid on the ‘morrow…I have two skeins left to <strike>f*ck up</strike> dye ;o)</p><p><i>Edited to add:  If you are also in your 30’s, check out <a href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url_id=1303&amp;entry_id=187" title="http://knottygirls.com/jenlablog/index.php?p=567" onmouseover="window.status=’http://knottygirls.com/jenlablog/index.php?p=567’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;" target="_blank">this list</a>.  Guaranteed to bring you back to the good ole days (aka your childhood – the 70’s) ;o)</i></p>

<img width="160" height="120" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/03-31-2006b001sm.jpg" alt="" /> It starts off small…you buy a little yarn here for a shawl/scarf/throw and then once you get the hang of the knit/purl and the increase/decrease action (you know, you get<i> skillz</i>) you decide that you can branch out to sweaters. So you pick out the yarn for a sweater here and there thinking that you’ll be able to knit it next week, or maybe next month. Before you know it, you’re standing in the back room of Webs during their tent sale fondling Berrocco Softwist in one hand and calling the 800# on the back of your credit card with the<img width="160" height="120" style="border: 0px none ; float: right; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" src="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/03-31-2006b005sm.jpg" alt="" /> other – you know, just ‘cuz you’re curious to know if you have $100 or $50 (or $5 – which is usually the case) available. If you are very, very lucky (which I was) you find out that the credit card company decided to up your limit and lo and behold…you’ve got $300 worth of ‘wiggle room’ and you’re hyperventilating. You’re also looking at your watch doing calculations as to when the ‘other half’ will be arriving home and whether you’ll be able to sneak the bags into the house without him noticing. ;o)<p>Time passes and after a fiber festival (or two) you’ve got enough yarn to start your own Ebay shop. Or, enough to cover your grandmother’s dining room table that can comfortably seat twelve.</p><p><a title="Click to see the Stash." target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/stash-03-31-06.jpg">Here it is, in all its glory.</a> This file is six pictures that I ‘knit’ together and they weren’t cooperating very well so when you zoom in you’ll be able to see the seams. Sorry about that :o( I did a little bit of a <a target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.com/uploads/Photos/03-31-2006b-005a.jpg">zoom in on the sock yarn</a> for those who might be interested in that kinda thing. <i>Oh, I found another basket of Lorna’s Laces and Artyarns after I did these photos. I’m *not* dragging it all out again so just imagine another six skeins of sock yarn in there….um yeah and this also doesn’t include the four or five small shopping bags of ‘tag sale’ yarn stuffed under the table. *ahem* What?!?!</i></p><p>K – if you need me I’ll be zooming around all the other flasher’s sites. Drooling.</p>
