babble

It was inevitable that I’d miss at least one blog post during this crazy-ass tax season. I’m busier than I normally am and have to do more maths than I normally do which makes everything more stressful. woo.  The up-side to this is that next year will be cake since I’ll have four less companies to wrangle.  The down-side is I’ll have four less companies and therefore four less companies’ worth of income.  boo.

Oh well, that’s why I started sewing again.  I’d much rather be listening to a book and making bags then pushing a pencil.

…but I digress.

I planned on taking pictures of my Knotty Glove progress (done with the thumb increases on the first glove!) and my Mad Color Weave socks (most of the way done on the first leg!) but I just didn’t have a chance today…oh and I have a new addition to the ‘herd’ that I wanted to photograph today too.  Alas, it will have to wait…

..I promise, I’ll be back before April.  ;o)

In honor of today being International Talk like a Pirate Day I give you this quiz:

You Are 45% Pirate

Ahoy matey! Ye can think o' yerself as a swashbuckler in trainin'.

If ye study hard an 'do what the captain tells ye, ye may be gettin' part o' the booty.

Get to work on yer pillagin', swordfightin', an' drinkin'.

Ye dasn't want to end up in Davy Jones' locker, so make sure ye pipe down when the captain be around.

I also give you a couple new links that I forgot to include yesterday – have a few paperbacks laying around that you don’t plan on reading again but don’t really know what to do with them?  Put them up on BookMooch.  Oh, I found another site that I like ZipList, it helps me keep a virtual grocery list that automatically categorizes the items I add so I can find them by aisle.  Another good site for finding bargains?  Bargainist.

Also, is anyone else out there anywhere near as excited as I am that Dancing with the Stars starts back up again next week?  Or Heroes?  Or The Office?  Or Survivor?  Monday can’t come fast enough for this TV addict.

Sorry I have no eye candy for this week, I hope to get back in the swing of photographing everything around me this weekend.  ;o)

ETA: It appears to be working again so just ignore my babbling about changing feeds…sorry. If you already switched, don’t worry you’ll still see my content and your feed will get redirected on my end so you don’t need to do anything. Again, I’m sorry for the confusion. Regular knitting and spinning content coming soon! ;o)

…bloglines and feedburner seem to not get along anymore so, after multiple attempts to get bloglines to listen, and trying to fix it by redirects, etc., I decided to say goodbye to feedburner for the time being. This completely sucks because I just lost 3 years of stats but I’d rather my posts show up in bloglines than keep the stats so…buh bye feedburner.

This means that those of you who are interested in hanging around at this particular party will need to resubscribe to my feeds ETA: since the feedburner feed will no longer exist in two weeks. I’m *really* sorry to have to do this since the reason why I had feedburner in the first place was so that I wouldn’t have to ask people to move whenever I had the urge to mess with stuff.

The new feed is located at http://www.jessaluknits.com/feed/ you can click on that link to subscribe or, if you use Google Reader or Newsgator, you can click on the button over there —> OR if you have a bookmark to subscribe to your favorite reader, you can do that too. Oh, you can also cut and paste the new feed address into your current subscription – if you click on ‘edit feed’ in your reader, that option should come up. ;o)

Thank you for your patience during this transition, I’m sorry to have to do this but having my feed ignored by bloglines for two weeks was just too much. (bloglines sucks, in case you didn’t already know my feelings on that point and yes, that’s my freedback in case there’s a lacky somewhere at bloglines still searching for that word) ;o)

For those who read all the way through this lovely boring post about feeds, etc. you get a pretty picture:

Spring Flowers - Bleeding Heart

For those who decide to stick with me – thanks for sticking with me!! For those who don’t, I’m sorry you’re moving on but it was good while it lasted…hopefully we can still be friends. ;o))

ETA: I’ve added a Bloglines button to the sidebar to make the transition easier for those who will still be using Bloglines.

…I’d have lovely photographs of a finished Mr. Greenjeans to share with you all. Unfortunately, Mother Nature has decided to be uncooperative so we’ll have to wait an extra day or so for the FO post (I’m sure the astute among you already noticed that Mr. G. has been at 100% in the sidebar since Thursday. Trust me, I want pictures as badly as you guys do but we’ll all have to wait ’til RR and the weather are all on the same page since I have no set-up for mirrored self-portraits or patience for monkeying with the tripod).

In the meantime, I have a couple of things to share.

First, Jazz would like to say, “hai.”

Jazzy says "hai"

Is that not the cutest set of floppy puppy ears you’ve ever seen?

Next, I recently offered to do a favor for a fellow knitblogger. To thank me, Deb sent a thank you card and, in order to make sure the card did not get damaged, included some lovely handspun:

Deb's Handspun

and a cake of Silkie STR from the 2007 Sock Club (Walking on the Wild Tide colorway) in a lovely silk bag:

Socks That Rock - Walking on the Wild Tide

Thank you, Deb! That’s some gorgeous packing material. I hope you enjoyed your tapes! ;o)

Also, I don’t think I shared with you all the presents Dobby brought back for me from her London trip:

Gifts from Across the Pond

That’s a magnetic notepad for my grocery lists, a Mr. Darcy (COLIN FIRTH!) keychain and a Bath postcard. Not bad! ;o)

In blogosphere news, there’s a new podcast that’s been added to the knitting podcast lineup. The Manic Purl Podcast has weekly episodes that are produced by Chrissy who blogs at Chrissy’s Random Life. I have only listened to one episode so far but the one I did listen to was well put together and a good length (between 30 and 45 minutes). She does a good job with continuity and no ‘uhm’ and ‘ah’ sections that I noticed. The best part about this week’s episode? Yours truly is the featured blogger! Thank you again, Chrissy, for all your compliments (RR says I am now impossible to live with, btw) and for choosing my little spot on the web to review. I’d like to welcome any and all visitors from her podcast site – thanks for stopping by! :o)

…is for walking. This is a trend I’ve noticed over several blogs but I first saw this at Judy’s blog. She has a beautiful forest surrounding her so her walking is much more interesting than mine but I thought I’d give it a shot. ;o)

First I had to wrangle the dogs into their harnesses and myself into something other than yoga pants but as soon as I had that done we were off and the dogs were more than happy to see some new scenery.

Happy Dogs

I decided to go up the neighbor’s drive – they own 40ish acres behind us which are mostly untouched and they live in Maryland so they only visit once a year (if that). This makes it nice and peaceful and a perfect place to stretch your legs (we also care for the property so I have permission to be back there – no trespassing!):

Uphill Climb
The View

My favorite part of my walk? It is finally feeling more like Autumn which means I’m able to wear my hand knit socks:

Fall Favorite

Which is actually one of my favorite things this Fall.

Tell me, what are your favorite things to do this time of year?
