The reason Tina was so happy…
…was she was getting a tattoo on her wheel. ;o) Though there were some guesses that were pretty funny, hehehe
This past Saturday was the second annual Stitch and Spin in Catskill, NY. Through some good luck and some creative googling I was able to get my friend Don to come to the event with his paints (and his amazing talent) to trick out some wheels. Usually Don looks like this when he’s working:
(yes, that’s my Jeep getting detailed, he’s done both my Jeeps, R’s Dad’s ’48 Ford, our friend Ernie and Ruth’s Dodge, oh hell pretty much every one of our friends who has a hot rod has had it pinstriped by Don, he loves us, hehe)
On Saturday, Don looked like this:
…and this:
…and this:
…a couple of the ‘tats’:
HA! Risa’s going to have to keep this one for a while, methinks. ;op She looks happy though, doesn’t she?
You can see more (including closeups of my lil bee addition) by checking out Tina’s post and Harriet’s post on the Times Union Fiber Arts blog (please if you can, leave a comment on the TU blog, they still don’t believe we have such numbers, hehe. But then come back here ‘cuz I have more for you to read…I’ll wait…you back? cool.)
In knitting news, someone keeps asking about my sock progress so here it is:
Firestarter on the left, Lothlorien on the right. ;o)

April…
…done.
I’ve finished the April socks for my 2009 Personal Sock Club and I’m completely smitten with them.
I did not follow the Leyburn pattern for the toes or the heel. I used the Magic Cast on for the toe and Wendy’s Toe-Up Sock with a Difference (PDF link) heel recipe for the heel.
The heel I chose begins the gusset increases in the middle of the bottom of the foot which I thought looked pretty cool. The only thing I didn’t like about it was it took me for-freaking-ever to do the heels. If I didn’t have such fat heels (or high insteps – whichever), I’d have done the regular short row heel like the pattern directs.
I am so totally loving these socks – I’ve worn them for three days. I should probably take them off and wash them eventually… ;o)
Project Details:
Pattern: Leyburn Socks [Rav Link]
Yarn: Autumn House Farms Strideaway Sock Yarn in the colorway ‘Fox Grape’ purchased Rhinebeck 2007
Needles: Knitpicks 2.5mm circs
Started April 2 – Finished April 19, 2009
When I finished these on Sunday I had no plan whatsoever in place for what was going to be up next. Sure I have a ton of WIP’s but most of them are socks and I wanted to do something that wasn’t on leetle tiny needles for a change. It took me a day but I decided…
I’m on tier 3 and loving it – got the hang of backwards knitting too. ;o)
I’m liking this…
…sock club thing. ;o) I picked my March bag and am pretty darned happy with it:
Charade pattern [rav link] paired with Shibui Sock in ‘Pebble’ (I think…all it has on the band is a number but tLE had it listed as a colorway and I’m pretty sure it was pebble…)
As soon as I have five minutes I’ll get them on the needles! Have a great weekend, everyone!
