It’s that time again…

…time for thousands of Olympic athletes to descend upon Vancouver and battle it out for gold.

…and time for thousands of knitters’ families to abandon all hope of clean laundry, hot meals in a timely manner and vacuumed living room floors for 16 days.  Why?  Because we. are. knitting.

I am signed up for the WIP category in the Ravelympics, I’m hoping I will finish Twist.  So far I have a sleeve and 6 inches of back to show for my efforts – want to see?  I thought you might so I took pictures.  ;o)

The back of the sleeve cap  that I finished during the Opening Ceremonies (about 4″ of knitting):

The back of the sweater so far (6″):

both pieces so far:

See?  6 inches done.  I just wish the measuring tape wasn’t so darned happy about it.  I’d like to see more inches there…:

A close up of my stitch markers because I couldn’t resist – they’re so CUTE!  Plus, they make my sweater look very patriotic, don’t they?  ;o)

So, now you have my update so far – I’m pretty confident that I’ll either come very close to finishing or will finish prior to the flame going out – barring any unforseen tax preparation emergency or project bag necessity.  I participated in the Knitting Olympics the last time the Winter games were played in 2006 and managed to finish on the last day of the Olympics (a little late, but finished) – though that time I was knitting a sweater with a hood.  I’m smarter this time around.  I’m doing a collar.

If you are interested, you can find my posts regarding the last time I played Olympic games by clicking here.  I’ll try to have another update soon!  At the very least, my blog anniversary is coming up and it’s a big one so there will be a contest this week!

Close…

…unfortunately, as my grandpa used to say, only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.  *sigh*

Close ...

It’s not my fault though.  Between cooking for 10 people for Thanksgiving (Happy Thanksgiving!) and then Friday contracting a raging case of some kind of horrible 24 hour bug that lasted until Sunday I wasn’t able to knit that much.  I knit like hell on Sunday though until I came up against another wall.

Wait, let me show you:

All that's left

10 grams does not equal four inches of sweater sleeve.  Even in my slice of non-reality.  *sigh*

At least if it turn it like this:

Looks like it's done...right?

…it *looks* like it’s done.  ;o)

P.S.  Exciting news!  I have sock monkey fabric!!  Watch the shop, I’ll have some posted soon…

I officially give up…

…the sun and RR can’t seem to get it together. It doesn’t help that it’s almost Memorial Day so all the 2nd homeowners *need* to have their TV’s, etc. installed RIGHT. NOW. which means I don’t see him before dark. Once we’re done with Memorial Day it’ll be the 4th of July that will cause the panic. I don’t get why they need a home theater done before they have a cookout. I mean seriously, aren’t they planning on being OUTSIDE? Isn’t that the root meaning of ‘cookOUT’? /rant

ANYway…since RR isn’t home, Dobby manned the camera so I can show off my new FO:
