Ten on Tuesday…
…the one with all the…can’t you see I’m knitting?
Jazzy – keeping an eye on the neighbors. ;o)
There isn’t an official topic (again) this week, so I’m coming up with my own topic (Carole and our band of rebels have a topic but since I’m knitting for the Olympics and that’s kind of what’s on my mind right now, I’m going to go with what I’m obsessing about in the interest of not taxing my brain this week). So, without any further ado:
10 Things to Say to Your Family While Knitting for the Olympics (the predecessor of this post is here, btw. I went through this once before, remember? Don’t ask me why I decided to do this a second time. I think, like childbirth, the memory of the pain lessons after the passage of time. It’s either that or I’ve completely lost my mind. shut. up. ;op ).
1. Hi. Why are you staring at me?
2. No, I can’t cook you dinner. Here’s twenty bucks for a pizza.
3. No, I don’t care what you get on the pizza.
4. No, REALLY. I don’t care! KNITTING here!
5. Why is Mommy crying? Because she loves knitting. A lot.
6. YES, we are watching ice skating. No, I don’t care if you like it.
7. Are you going to fast forward through these commercials or am I going to stab you with a double point?
8. Wait. What? NO I CAN’T GO PICK UP THE PIZZA!
9. Stop whimpering, I didn’t yell *that* loudly.
10. This will all be over on Monday. (Yes, this Monday.)
So tell me, how is your Olympic knitting coming along? ;o)

Ten on Tuesday…
…the one with all the places to knit.
Photo of Chinatown on Sunday during the New Year firecrackers and Dragon Dancers – R and Dave went, I stayed home because I wasn’t feeling up to the crowds.
There wasn’t an official topic again this week so our little group of rebels are doing our own thing. Carole suggested a list of our Ten Favorite Places to Knit so…
1. The couch. I can spread out, I have my stuff, my laptop, my remote and my project and all is well (and lately I’ve added a cup warmer to the end table so my tea is still hot even if I forget I have it). This is where I’m doing the bulk of my Olympic knitting – two more inches on the back so far!
2. The car while waiting at the bank drive through or waiting for R to be done in a boy store (you know – auto parts, hardware, etc.) or at a red light when I’ve been particularly desperate to finish a project.
3. Restaurants. As soon as I pull out the project, the waitress shows up with dinner. It’s magical. ;o)
4. Knit night – though I have to work on the simple projects since I get distracted easily and mess up cables, etc.
5. My new knit night – I’m starting up a group in Great Barrington beginning in March. I have to check one more thing but I’m pretty sure it’ll be a go. (no, I’m not stopping going to my other knit night) ;o)
6. Sitting by the campfire. Though I usually need a light to knit by.
7. At a car show – I get very interesting questions asked of me when the car guys see me with the needles.
8. My porch during a spring rain – it smells wonderful and the sound of rain on the roof is so soothing.
9. Before we found a better internet provider (we don’t get DSL out here in the woods), I used to enjoy knitting at my desk while waiting for a site to download. Now, I knit at my desk when I need a break from adding 2+2.
10. Movie theaters while waiting for the movie to start (though we don’t go out to the movies much). It really makes the time go by faster.
There’s my list! Tell me, where are your favorite places to knit?

Ten on…
…Thursday. Sorry, somehow the week has managed to get away from me again.
I think this week was supposed to be ‘10 Resolutions’ but I did that last week so this week I’m going out on my own. Since it’s New Year’s and since we’re rolling into a new decade at midnight tonight, I’m going to go with ‘10 11 Things I Did in the Last 10 Years that Made Me Happy and/or Effected My Life’ (yep I know it’s long but I’m in charge so there. ;op )
So, in no particular order:
1. Met R and started dating him for realz.
2. Got/kept my own apartment for a year (the first year of our relationship, in fact). Before that, I had always lived with someone else and didn’t think I was capable of paying rent and utilities on my own. Having that apartment made a huge difference on my self confidence.
3. Quit Smoking. I quit on December 3, 1999 and I only occasionally look back. ;o)
4. Started working from home. There are pluses and there are minuses but overall, I love it.
5. Decided that there are people in my life who choose to be negative and that it’s up to me whether or not I let that negativity effect me. Also, that *I* am not responsible for everyone’s happiness, only my own. (that one was especially freeing, letmetellyou)
6. Lost my last living grandparent. It changes the way you look upon the world, at least, it changed the way I looked upon the world.
7. Went to the other side of the country. I had never been West before Wyoming. I loved it and want to do it again someday!
8. Started knitting and, started spinning. ;o)
9. Saw my daughter graduate High School and get an apartment of her own.
10. Got engaged! To R! (Finally! hehe He loves it when people put that word on the end of that sentence, it’s his favorite. *g*)
11. Last but definitely not least, started this blog. I’ve made many friends along the way and I am grateful for every one of you!
Well, there’s my list – tell me, what would be on yours?
P.S. I managed to get all my Christmas socks done on time and they were well received. I even finished up a ’stealth’ pair for R!
