Hopefully this one will be easier since I actually took notes on what I did to get to this point.</p><p>One of many good things about this STR? It handles multiple froggings with barely any deterioration. I ripped this thing <strike>five million forty thousand and</strike> three times and this <span title="Finished Object" class="serendipity_glossaryMarkup">FO</span> (or half of one) looks great! (psssttt – Carole, recognize the item I am resting my foot upon? ;o) Not sure if I toldja but I filled the thing in less than two weeks.)</p><p><i>I’ve been pondering this…does it mean I am now a hard-core blogger since I used a tripod and the timer to take a photo for this here bit of cyberspace? No? How about if I referred to it (in my mind) as a ‘photo shoot’? ohGod…I’ve gone over the edge…I’m going to have to get one of those <a target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url_id=969&entry_id=168" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.cafepress.com/buy/i%27m+blogging+this/-/pv_design_prod/pg_1/p_storeid.50861722/pNo_50861722/id_11542881/opt_/fpt_/c_/hlv_t’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;">t-shirts</a>.</i></p><p>So, here is what I did for those who are curious:</p><ul><li>I started out using 2.25mm circulars. (btw, Susan Bates needs to come up with a new name for her circs. Quicksilver they are not.)<br /> </li><li>I cast-on with the <a title="Click here for a tutorial" target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url_id=970&entry_id=168" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.misocrafty.squarespace.com/journal/2006/1/30/turkish-cast-on-tutorial.html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;">Turkish cast on</a> and started with 28 stitches (which means I wrapped the needles 14 times). </li><li>I then increased to 64 stitches and <a title="Toe-up Jaywalker Pattern" target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url_id=971&entry_id=168" onmouseover="window.status=’http://www.azazello.org/knit/2005/12/toe-up-jaywalker-pattern.html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;">followed the pattern</a> until I got to where I wanted to start the heel.</li><li>I kfb on either side of the heel side every other row until I had 44 stitches on the heel (while continuing the pattern on the instep side). </li><li>Then, I started the <a title="Good short-row heel pattern – ignore the rest and just read how to do the heel ;o)" target="_blank" href="http://jessaluknits.com/exit.php?url_id=972&entry_id=168" onmouseover="window.status=’http://mary4169.tripod.com/id87.html’;return true;" onmouseout="window.status=”;return true;">short-row heel</a> and wrapped down to 12 stitches (you can change this to wider or narrower) then knit back up to 44 stitches. </li><li>At this point I picked up two extra stitches on each side of the heel while starting to work in the round again.<a onclick="F1 = window.open(‘/uploads/Photos/04-06-06-012.jpg’,’Zoom’,’height=495,width=651,top=144,left=322,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,resize=1,resizable=1,scrollbars=yes’); return false;" href="uploads/Photos/04-06-06-012.jpg"><img width="110" height="83" src="uploads/Photos/04-06-06-012.serendipityThumb.jpg" style="border: 0px none ; float: left; padding-left: 5px; padding-right: 5px;" alt="" /></a> </li><li>I also changed to the 2.5mm Addi’s and decreased back down to 38 stitches on the heel side in pattern. This means that on the back side instead of doing the increases on each side while doing the pattern row, I skipped the increase and only did the decrease – <b>on each side. I still did the increases in the middle.</b> </li></ul><p>Hopefully this isn’t too confusing and helps those that are having trouble getting these to fit.
