Tour de Fleece 2013…

…the spinning so far. As per usual, I’m spinning my Spunky Club fiber for TdF to attempt to whittle away at the 8ish POUNDS that are now stuffed into the Bin of Shame Awesome.

I think I’ve managed to spin twice as much this year as I spun last year. Which isn’t much since last year I managed to spin 4oz. ;o)

First up, ‘David’s Gift’ on SW Corriedale:

Tour de Fleece 2013 David's Gift

Spun on the CPW and plied on the Matchless from a center-pull ball. I ended up with 284 yards of fingering-ish weight. I seriously love this colorway!

Second we have ‘Eye of the Peacock’ on Cotswold Sheepswool Sliver:

Tour de Fleece 2013 Peacock

Also spun on the CPW and plied on the Matchless frmo a center-pull ball. This ended up being 177 yards of thick/thin 2-ply that varies in weight. This is SO pretty, it’s possibly going to be a hat someday but currently it’s just going to be pretty.

That’s it so far! I’m not sure what else I’ll be able to get done before the end of the Tour because now I’m prepping for vending at Fiber Revival on August 10!

See you soon! Spin Happy!

FO: Color Affection

Yes, I have another finished object to share with you! This one I finished right before Rhinebeck so some people have seen it in person.

FO: Color Affection

I love this knit. I mean Love.

FO: Color Affection

I wear it almost all the time – it’s been super cold here in the Northeast and the wood stove isn’t doing a very good job keeping up with our 200 year old windows (my old farmhouse still has the original handmade glass in the living room) so lately when I’m on the couch, I’m wearing this.

FO: Color Affection

It keeps my neck and shoulders cozy warm.

FO: Color Affection

It helps that the yarn was dyed by two good friends – and that it has cashmere in it ;o)

FO: Color Affection

The blue and purple were dyed by Judy of Ball and Skein, the grey was dyed by Kim of The Woolen Rabbit. It’s like getting a hug from both of them whenever I wear it!

Project Details:

Pattern: Color Affection by Veera Välimäki

Yarn: Ball and Skein Sophia in Fox Grape and Beach Glass; The Woolen Rabbit Harmony Sock in Raven

Needle: Knit Picks interchangeables – but I don’t remember the size! I want to say 6?

Time to Knit: 4 months!

FO: Trillian

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are now having a happy new year!

I actually have an FO to show you – I cast on Trillian right after Christmas and finished it just this week. I have one mod (heavier yarn) but mostly I knit it true to pattern.

Trillian

It was such a simple knit and, since I knit it with worsted weight instead of fingering, it felt like it grew super fast!

Trillian

I picked up this Madeline Tosh Vintage in Flashdance while on a trip to Webs with friends last February. I didn’t really have a plan for it, but I knew I wanted something shawl or cowl-like.

Trillian

Since I have crazy curls, I can’t wear a cowl unless it has buttons. Pulling them over my hair makes everything frizzy and terrible so I avoid that at all costs.

Trillian

I’d much rather have a nice little shawlette to wrap around my neck so I went with this pattern. It flew off my needles and now I have a nice squishy neckwarmer for the winter!
