New Ink!

I posted a photo on my Instagram and Facebook when I first got this tattoo at the end of July but didn’t really go into the thought behind my new tattoo – and I need to post to my blog more often since I don’t really feel like a blogger anymore because I seem to only post on my anniversary and holidays. I like blogging, but Instagram is just soooo easy!

Anyway, this post is about my new tattoo and not my laziness ;o)

This year marks 10 years that I have been a part of the fiber community so I decided to get a new tattoo that will remind me of my love of all things wooly – there are a few people who also have been wool marked so I wanted to put my own spin on things. I went with Woolmark ‘Gold’:
10 years with wool in my life = marked by wool #tattoo @leftylucille #hudsonrivertattoo

I chose the location so I can see this tattoo and my wrist bee while I’m knitting ;o) I had a bit of angst regarding this tat, but I finally came to the realization that the only ink that I have that will ever be truly individual is my SbJL bee since that was designed for me (by my friend Heather – check out her new yarn and designs while you’re over there!) and is my trademark so it can’t be copied.

Anyway, I love my new addition to my tattoo collection and yes, I’m already thinking about what I want next!

Ink…

…I’ve always been a little scared to get a tattoo.  I have a needle issue and then there was the prospect of having something on my body that I couldn’t remove.  Hair color grows out, ear piercings can heal but tattoos are forever.  I’ve also never had something I was willing to tattoo onto myself, never had something I was willing to spend the rest of my life looking at.

Then, last year while I was talking to Amy during a fiber fest, I told her that I was thinking about getting a tattoo.  Then I said, “I’m thinking about getting a bee.”  She looked at me and said, “you *need* a bee.”  And that was that.  ;o)

There were other conversations with other friends and all of those helped solidify her statement and my resolve to put on my big girl pants and give this tattoo thing a whirl.  So, I now have a bee.

You might recognize it if you’ve ever purchased a bag from me at a fiber festival.  This is the stamp I use for the back of my hang tags.  Why did I choose this, you ask?  To remind myself that I can build something from nothing, with perseverance, hard work and a lot of sweat equity.

…and now, because it took (literally) five minutes and it barely hurt, I’m already thinking about getting another one.  ;o)  hehe

Guess what…

…I did last weekend.  ;o)

More details as soon as it’s healed enough to look pretty in a photograph!

Also, sorry for the radio silence.  Between tax season and shop business I’ve had no time to blog.  I do have FO’s and WIP’s to tell you about though!
