One more time…

…into the breach. (or something like that…)

I’ve decided to give CeCe another shot. The last attempt was frogged due to my inability to pay attention and read my knitting – plus, I decided that I hated the yarn color.

Progress as of Saturday:

CeCe 2.0

The yarn is Zephyr Wool/Silk DK weight in Blueberry – purchased almost exactly one year ago at Halcyon in Maine (which reminds me, it’s almost RR and my engagement anniversary!). I have a full cone of it so I’m thinking (hoping, actually) that I have enough to make elbow length sleeves.

I cast on Thursday afternoon, made it through the first lace row, realized I screwed up on the very first row of ribbing, ripped back, cast on again, counted like fourteen times to make sure it was right, knit the ribbing and then spent most of last night attempting to get a correct first lace row again while watching Law & Order CI.

*sigh* is it wrong to not be optimistic about this because of our shaky beginnings? ;o)



It’s that time again…

…time for thousands of Olympic athletes to descend upon Vancouver and battle it out for gold.

…and time for thousands of knitters’ families to abandon all hope of clean laundry, hot meals in a timely manner and vacuumed living room floors for 16 days.  Why?  Because we. are. knitting.

I am signed up for the WIP category in the Ravelympics, I’m hoping I will finish Twist.  So far I have a sleeve and 6 inches of back to show for my efforts – want to see?  I thought you might so I took pictures.  ;o)

See?  6 inches done.  I just wish the measuring tape wasn’t so darned happy about it.  I’d like to see more inches there…:

So, now you have my update so far – I’m pretty confident that I’ll either come very close to finishing or will finish prior to the flame going out – barring any unforseen tax preparation emergency or project bag necessity.  I participated in the Knitting Olympics the last time the Winter games were played in 2006 and managed to finish on the last day of the Olympics (a little late, but finished) – though that time I was knitting a sweater with a hood.  I’m smarter this time around.  I’m doing a collar.

I thank you, RR thanks you and his car club thanks you.  All of you.  At last count we had 45 comments/entries and even more clicks through to the bank website (and I’m hoping that clicks = votes!).  You guys are awesome!!  I will tally everything today and pull a random winner for a skein of my yarn tonight – the winner will be posted tomorrow.  Good luck to you all!!

The past few weeks have been crazy busy for me.  Busy crunching numbers and busy in the sewing room (new bags are going up in the shop today!  Probably this afternoon – btw, did you know you could subscribe to an RSS feed for an Artfire or Etsy shop?) which has led me to yearn for ‘down time’ which has led me to do more spinning and, consequently, more knitting.  Instead of casting on a new project, I decided to start working through some of my WIPs.  First up?  My hands have been pretty cold lately so I decided to break out the gloves.

The last time I spoke of my Knotty Gloves was June 18th when I was at this stage of the game:

For some reason, after I posted this, I put them down for almost six months (!).  I’m thinking maybe I was intimidated by fingers…ohwell, now they look like this:
