The Beginning…

…of a sweater always starts out so promising. You have pretty yarn, you have needles, a pattern, if you are lucky, a nice bag to put it all in

Effortless Cardi

you cast on, you knit. You check the pattern, you keep knitting, back and forth (if it’s a flat knit), knit, purl

Effortless Cardi

you admire the fabric you’ve made so far, you count stitches to make sure you haven’t gotten ahead of yourself

Effortless Cardi

you decide to blog your progress, you pull out the camera, artfully arrange your knitting…

…and then realize that at this point, the only thing it resembles is a shapeless blob.

Effortless Cardi

…but you blog about it anyway. ;op

Trying to get back…

…into the blogging saddle – can you tell? ;o)

I’ve been so busy making bags, I have barely had time to do anything but sew, sleep and eat and the blog has suffered immensely. I’m going to try to put a stop to the suffering – of course, I’ve said that before but this time I have a blogging buddy! My friend Sairy and I are both knitting a sweater and we’re going to blog our progress (she’s a bad blogger too, hehe).

I have my yarn wound and my pattern on my new toy (Santa brought me an iPad) so I am ready to go!

The Beginning

Any guesses on what pattern I’ve chosen? ;o)

Also, over the weekend I celebrated a blog milestone. I’ll be back tomorrow to continue the celebration so get ready for a contest!

Mittens!

Last winter, after shoveling the driveway for the zillionth time (remember last winter when we had that weird frozen stuff all over?), R requested a pair of mittens to help keep his hands from freezing off.  I haven’t knit many mittens – I guess we just aren’t a ‘mitten’ family – but I can’t say no when he requests something specific like that.

So, not only did he get mittens, he got mittens knit from handspun:

Mittens !

I think he likes them. ;o)

Project Details: (Ravelry Page)

Pattern: Basic Men’s Mittens

Yarn: Worsted Weight Handspun in Cranberry Bog purchased at Rhinebeck

Knit: February 2011 (yes, I’m slow with the blogging about the knitting…)

Hope you all have a great weekend – rumor has it we’re getting a dusting of the white stuff tonight, I can’t wait! I’m sick of this brown winter!
