CPW’s! Unite!

This past Saturday, I attended a spinning event in Athens, NY that was hosted by my friend, Tina.  It was mainly for owners of Canadian Production Wheels but everyone was welcome.

(Tina and Jesh pictured above) We even had a less-than-48-hour owner of a new (to her) CPW!  Jess (on the right in the photo below – Yrallee is on the left) found her new toy just a day or so before our meetup!

I think we ignited some CPW lust in the hearts of the few who attended CPW-less ;o)

It was wonderful to see them grouped together

All around, a great day!

I guess I was taking a break…

…who knew? ;o)

Things have been all wedding, all the time around here lately so I haven’t been blogging.  I’m thinking that you all don’t want to hear about my snail crawl towards the DIY finish line – if I’m wrong, let me know, ok? hehe

Since Wendy and her husband Jody spent all day here yesterday (and by all day I mean they got here at 10:30am-ish and left at 11pm-ish) and we finished the ceremony programs and partially finished the favors, I decided I needed a bit of a wedding-DIY break so I headed up to the Adirondack Sheep & Wool fest at the Washington County Fairgrounds.  Okay and I had to drop off bags to Judy and Karin for the VT show next week so it was kind of work related too – but I wasn’t gluing anything papery together so I was happy!

One of the first things I saw was this:

Merlin Tree Dave!

Hi Dave!

Dave had a CPW in his booth:

very pretty – but if I bring another one home right now I have a feeling the wedding would be off.  ;o)

A few other interesting things seen around the show:

Yarn in the Sliver Moon Farm Booth
Local (to me) Farm ;o)
Weaving - adding the fringe
Kind of cool!

and, some buckets at the Ball & Skein booth:

Judy will also have them in her booth at the VT Sheep & Wool show next weekend – the box bags will be in my friend Karin’s booth, I think under Periwinkle Sheep?

I’ve also been doing a bit of spinning here and there, here is my bobbin of ‘contusion’ from Sairy and Holyknitballs shop (they have more listed too…)

Sairy's Contusion

Isn’t that pretty?

Okay that’s all for now!  Aren’t you glad I popped in to let you know that I’m not dead yet? ;o)

The reason Tina was so happy…

…was she was getting a tattoo on her wheel.  ;o)  Though there were some guesses that were pretty funny, hehehe

This past Saturday was the second annual Stitch and Spin in Catskill, NY.  Through some good luck and some creative googling I was able to get my friend Don to come to the event with his paints (and his amazing talent) to trick out some wheels.  Usually Don looks like this when he’s working:

Don in his element...

(yes, that’s my Jeep getting detailed, he’s done both my Jeeps, R’s Dad’s ’48 Ford, our friend Ernie and Ruth’s Dodge, oh hell pretty much every one of our friends who has a hot rod has had it pinstriped by Don, he loves us, hehe)

On Saturday, Don looked like this:

…a couple of the ‘tats’:

Risa's going to have to keep this one...

HA!  Risa’s going to have to keep this one for a while, methinks.  ;op  She looks happy though, doesn’t she?

You can see more (including closeups of my lil bee addition) by checking out Tina’s post and Harriet’s post on the Times Union Fiber Arts blog (please if you can, leave a comment on the TU blog, they still don’t believe we have such numbers, hehe.  But then come back here ‘cuz I have more for you to read…I’ll wait…you back?  cool.)

In knitting news, someone keeps asking about my sock progress so here it is:
