Stash enhancement, that is. ;o)

When Risa arrived on Friday, the second thing she did (after admiring my peonies – Tina, you can stop giggling now  – and laughing at my dogs) was throw yarn at me.  I know!

This yarn began as roving I gave to her a couple of months ago, never expecting to see it again.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  It’s a true three-ply and the first she’s ever done.  How lucky am I?  ;o)

Next up are the fest acquisitions:

The above was purchased at Massachusetts S&W (if you click after the whole page loads, you can click through all the photos on this post like a slideshow).  From left to right:  Wool Peddler BFL in “Barnwood”, Wool Peddler Merino in “Enchanted”, Spunky Eclectic Superwash Merino in “Rocky Mountain High” and Spunky Eclectic Panda (Merino/Bamboo) in “Potluck”.  I bought one more Spunky Panda hank-o-roving but since I’m spinning it already (on Emma), my living room is a cave and the sun has disappeared, I couldn’t take a picture of that one yet.

I didn’t mention in my last post that I took Risa to visit Colorful Stitches on Friday.  I also neglected to mention that some yarn happened to jump into my bag while I was there:

What a weekend!

This past weekend was the Massachusetts Sheep & Wool fest in Cummington.  It was decided many moons ago that Risa was going to be visiting – which made the weekend even more exciting!

She arrived on Friday and the first thing I did was drag her into the back yard to show her this:

(you know, because that’s what she came up here for, to see my garden. Not.)  There’s seven blooms this year, which is a record.  I *heart* this plant!

The next thing she saw was this:

Jazz?  Is nuts.  (she’s the one on the left, Beanie’s the little one on the right) She runs and runs and runs and runs then stops and then runs some more after she bites at Beanie and gets her mad enough to  chase her again.  Nuts.

Then RR came home and Jazzy showed off her mad skillz (she jumps into your arms on command now – most of the time.  *ahem*):

Then there were many hours of spinning, eating and watching of movies.  We went to bed kinda early because…well, because I’m old and fall asleep after the 11 o’clock news and because we had to get up early the next morning to get to the fest….

…where we saw the usual suspects (and blog free Manise and Sharon – and I hope I didn’t forget anyone but I probably did and I’m sorry, we all know I have no memory and I suck) …and sheep and wool and wheels and stuff and more stuff and…and…well, I’m just going to show you more pictures:

Is it Christmas?

Those last two?  You can’t get any more predictable than that.  (Risa buying Neopolitan flavored roving and Laurie cleaning out the fleece sale) ;op

Then I had a little get-together at the house where I may have imbibed a drinky or two and completely forgot to use the camera.  Oopsies.  Though there are some pictures here (scroll down…you can see Sarah and Tamara and Michelle and Harriet and Tim and Diane (blog-free)…and…and…I think that’s it).

Oh and you’re just going to have to wait ’til Friday to see what I bought…and what was gifted to me.  ;o)

I brought home some yarn from a little trip to Halcyon Yarn:

…and Jaggerspun Zephyr wool/silk ^.  I’m thinking maybe a new CeCe (I totally hate the blue/green one on my project page) and some kind of lacy scarf.

ETA: I had a couple of requests for a review of Halcyon Yarn so I decided to add it to this post.

Halcyon was a nice experience.  It is housed in an older building in Bath, ME in the middle of a commercial district right off of the highway.  It’s pretty easy to find if you have a GPS.  ;o)  When you first walk in, you are hit with the visual smack of a wall full of Lamb’s Pride and the usual racks of books and some racks full of skeins of Noro and Noro sock yarn.  There is a small rack of Malabrigo, also which fascinated me for a few minutes.  (I can’t resist a pettable yarn and Malabrigo is infinitely pettable)  R and I wandered around looking at everything they offered – I thought they carried Koigu but I was mistaken.  If they had, it would have been a much less expensive visit.  ;op  Behind the wall of Lamb’s Pride there are ceiling-high shelves full of cones of their signature yarns and Jaggerspun.  We spent the better part of an hour in there, most of which I spent trying to decide on colors.  There are so many choices, it’s a bit overwhelming.  RR definitely gets points for patience!

Overall it’s a nice space of which they use every inch, it is packed full of fiber and yarn (mostly yarn).  It struck me as a very traditional shop that has tried to move into the 21st century with some of their yarn choices (the Noro and Malabrigo) but mostly carries yarns that would work best on a loom.

Last but definitely not least, thank you all SO MUCH for all your good wishes!!  You guys made my week!  I’m totally on cloud nine and not coming down anytime soon and it’s all your fault.  ;o)
